It is the shortest existing route to connect China with Europe, involving countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey. Reducing transit time compared to the Northern corridor which is the most used corridor after this, as well as being environmentally sustainable.

Current conflicts such as the wars in Ukraine, Gaza or the tensions between the United States and China, may have repercussions at a global level that could indirectly affect the region and the Chinese economy in general. Due to this, transport corridors from Asia, mainly China and India, to Europe and the supply chains of products consumed by Europeans were affected, resulting in a significant increase in final costs.

For all these reasons, new routes had to be found that would allow easy, fast and safe transportation of goods.

It is a key region in the economic and social development of the country, with a solid industrial base and growing importance as a logistics and transport hub. Its continued development and growth are critical to China’s future and its role in the global economy.
